This BookFrame Frequently Asked Questions page collects the common questions about this plugin. The short answers below match the way the plugin works on your WordPress site today.
BookFrame Frequently Asked Questions
Read the questions in order. They cover what the plugin requires, what stays on your site, and where to ask for help. If your question is not listed, use this plugin’s WordPress.org support forum. There is no separate support site. You can also use the contact form. Name the plugin and the screen you are on.
These answers do not change the GPL license in the plugin license.txt file, and they do not replace the company terms for accounts and checkout at https://grandslambert.com/terms-of-use/. Privacy details stay on the Privacy Policy page for this plugin. This BookFrame Frequently Asked Questions page is the short form of that same behavior. It does not add a feature the plugin does not already have. If a step on the Help page disagrees with an answer here, follow the Help page and ask through the contact form.
Does BookFrame require Elementor?
No. Books, authors, and the fallback templates work on their own. Elementor adds the book widgets. The library you already saved stays in WordPress either way.
When does BookFrame contact Google Books or Open Library?
When an administrator searches, imports, or tests a connection. Visitors do not trigger those requests. Google Books receives the search text and your API key. The key is sent in a request header to https://www.googleapis.com/books/v1/volumes. Open Library receives the title, ISBN, or author name and does not use an API key. Both requests include your site URL in the User-Agent.
What does BookFrame Plus add?
Plus lets logged-in visitors save a reading list, set read status (want to read, reading, or read), and leave a 1 to 10 rating. Guests cannot use those features. Get Plus downloads the add-on and then asks you to activate it. Reading data stays on your site. BookFrame Plus does not call Google Books or Open Library. License checks send the license key, site URL, and a site instance ID.
