Better RSS Widget Privacy Policy

Effective October 20, 2026. This policy covers the Better RSS Widget plugin on your WordPress site. The policy for grandslambert.com accounts and checkout is at https://grandslambert.com/privacy-policy/.

Better RSS Widget Privacy Policy

Better RSS Widget shows items from an RSS or Atom feed that an administrator chooses. It does not create accounts, and it does not send a license key, site URL, or visitor profile to GrandSlambert. There is no Plus add-on and no call to the GrandSlambert license server.

What stays on your site

Widget settings, the default options saved under Settings → Better RSS Widget, and shortcode attributes stay in your WordPress database. That includes the feed URL, item count, title, intro text, excerpt length, author, date, time, link target, nofollow, and cache duration. Feed items are not copied into posts. A cached copy of a feed, when caching is on, is stored by WordPress on your site for the duration you set. The default duration is 3600 seconds, which is one hour.

Requests to the feed you choose

When the classic widget, the [better-rss] shortcode, or an RSS List or RSS Grid widget renders, WordPress requests that feed from your server with the WordPress feed reader. The request goes to the URL you entered. The publisher of that feed sees a request from your site. The plugin does not add the visitor’s name, email address, or account to that request.

Caching is on by default. While a cached copy is still fresh, a later page view can reuse it and skip a new request. You can turn the cache off or change the duration for a feed. Turning the cache off means the site asks the feed address again when the widget or shortcode runs.

The shortcode can append the current post title, the current post’s tag names, or both, to the feed URL when you set use_title or use_tags. Those words then become part of the address requested from the feed host. Leave those attributes off when the title or tags should not leave your site. The classic widget and the RSS List and RSS Grid widgets request only the feed URL you entered.

Visitors

People reading your site do not type a feed address into the plugin, and they do not start the request from their browser. The page they view causes your site to load the feed, subject to the cache. Titles, excerpts, dates, and authors shown on the page come from the feed you selected. Intro text is text you wrote and is stored with the widget.

Elementor is optional. If Elementor is not installed, the classic widget and the shortcode still work, and no Elementor account is contacted.
