Better RSS Widget displays an RSS or Atom feed in a classic widget, the better-rss shortcode, or two Elementor widgets: RSS List and RSS Grid. It does not replace WordPress’s built-in RSS widget. Add this one where you want a feed, and leave or remove the old widget on your own schedule.
Show a feed
Enter the feed URL. In the classic widget, leave the title blank to use the feed’s own title, or type your own. In Elementor, the title can be your own text, the feed title, or the feed description. Optional intro text is printed before the items. Choose how many items to show, and whether each item includes an image, a summary, the author, the date, and the time. Date, time, and author can sit in a stacked list or on one line. A title length limit shortens long headlines. The feed icon can point at the feed address or at a title URL you set.
Where it can go
Use Appearance → Widgets for a sidebar or footer. Use the better-rss shortcode in a post or page. With Elementor, open the Better RSS Widget category and add RSS List or RSS Grid. RSS List stacks the items. Its image can sit above the text, to the left, or to the right. RSS Grid places the image above the text and sets the number of columns, plus one image height and object fit so the cards line up. Both widgets style the feed box, title, icon, intro, items, excerpt, date, time, and author. The item title, excerpt, and meta can each have a background color, and those areas can grow or shrink to finish the layout. If Elementor is not installed, the plugin still runs.
Cache and defaults
Each feed can be cached on your site. Caching is on by default for 3600 seconds. Change that duration, or turn the cache off, per widget or shortcode. Settings → Better RSS Widget stores the defaults used when you add a new widget, including the link target, item count, summary, author, date, time, nofollow, and excerpt length.
The shortcode can append the current post title or tag names to the feed URL with use_title and use_tags. Leave those off when the request should be the feed address alone.
