About
GrandSlambert.com houses the ever changing blog written by Shane Lambert. A geek to the core, Shane never really knows what to do with this domain name which is why it changes so often. It has been used to try and make money, for Wordpress tools, and now for whatever the heck he feels like using it for. We hope you can find something here that interests you.
Why GrandSlambert?
The word GrandSlambert was coined while Shane was working at Travelnet Solutions in Minnesota during 2007 and 2008. We can attribute the word to the Chief Executive Officer Charles Bailey who would often refer to an excellent piece of work as a grand slam. It wasn’t long before Shane became known as GrandSlambert, and even less time before Shane registered the domain name on a whim. Now he is trying to find a real purpose for this site.
Who is Shane Lambert?
There is no easy way to say this, but Shane Lambert is a geek. It all started in 1984 when for Christmas he received a Commodore 64 computer from his father. It was not long before he became interested in writing software using the basic programming language. He purchased an IBM PC Compatible in 1987 and became active in the bulletin board services (BBS) available in the area. With his love of programming he started working with Pascal to right doors for the Remote Access BBS software.
Since the beginning of the Internet as we know it today, Shane has been building and updating web sites, first with static HTML files, then with PHP and open source applications, and now with the WordPress software. As you can see, Shane is a geek to the core, in fact, he even met his wife at a Linux Users Group meeting for the La Crosse Linux Users Group, a group he himself founded.
The Future
Currently, Shane is still working in the world of the web, building web sites and developing PHP. This will change in the very near future as he enrolled in the University of Phoenix, Online in April 2009 to earn an Associates of Elementary Education degree. His goal is to make a career change and enter the wonderful world of teaching. You may ask why he would do this with the level of experience he has with web development, and he would answer “I have always dreamed about becoming a teacher. I am not getting any younger, so if I am going to do it, it has to be now.” Good luck Shane, we know you will make a great teacher some day.
